Becoming Me
An ongoing personal experiment exploring AI as a companion for independent thinking, reflection, and growth.
Overview
Most AI assistants are designed to help people work faster, find answers, and complete tasks.
Becoming Me explores a different question:
Can AI help a person think more independently, understand themselves more deeply, and live a richer life over time?
This project began as a personal experiment. Each day, the AI recommends meaningful experiences based on my evolving interests, including technology events, university talks, startup meetups, exhibitions, concerts, sports, books, and places to explore around the San Francisco Bay Area.
But recommendation is only the starting point.
I record my observations, questions, decisions, and reflections. The AI responds not simply by agreeing or giving advice, but by questioning my assumptions, identifying patterns, presenting alternative perspectives, and encouraging me to develop my own judgment.
The goal is not to let AI think for me.
The goal is to use AI as a partner that helps me think better.
What this is about
I’m exploring AI as a long-term companion for growth—one that:
- encourages curiosity instead of spoon-feeding answers
- challenges assumptions without being confrontational
- helps people reflect on how they change over time
- makes room for nuance, uncertainty, and self-directed learning
Why it matters
Most AI tools are designed for productivity. This one asks a different question: can AI support a human’s own journey, not just their tasks?
This project is framed as a personal lab where the design, the experience, and the values are all being tested together.
What’s next
A public project page and formal project link will follow soon. For now, this portfolio entry serves as the first introduction to the idea and the ongoing experiment.
“Becoming Me” is about using AI as a companion for thinking, not a shortcut to answers.
